As I was traveling thru time in my old photos, I stopped and messed with this one some. It was taken almost 2 years ago while still living in Corpus with my old camera. The angles and thought seemed good. However I didn't like all the power poles and lines, so I took 'em out. It just took too much away from the photo in my mind. If ya want to see the original, let me know and I'll send it to ya. I'm a pack rat, lol. Always keep the before shot, then save the result incase I don't like it under a different name.

When I first moved into this house, I noticed the huge Cactus plant. Well, living in Texas for a long time, hard to miss it. They grow like weeds there. This one did bloom some great yellow flowers later.

I think of this shot as, 'Waiting My Turn'. Two birds eating the Sunflower seeds I put there, and one waiting, thinking, 'hurry up, I'm hungry too'. Yeah I know. I put my words into animals of all sorts to say what I think. But you all know me well by now. That might not be a good thing, lol.

A sad thing I read in the newspaper today. A giraffe from the Asheboro Zoo passed away yesterday. I've taken several pictures of him. He was 14 years old. An old age from what the paper said. I'm glad I guess I'm not a giraffe.

These things, stalamites, if I'm not mistaken, remind me of statues on an alter. Aranged by the slowly drip, drip, drip of water from the limestone rocks above into the cavern below. Down the Drain

With that said, there was a heavy rain and I had to look at the drain by my basement. (don�t ask me why, just had to) What 'I' see are many faces being swirled around in agony or glee. This is probably my favorite photograph of the snow we had on Feb 14, 2008. This pond picture was taken at the Summerfield Park. The 'mood' of it lended itself to be switched to Black and White. Bleak, cold, just fits the image.
Still an outstanding photograph if I may say so with the snow and reflections of the trees off of the still water.

To me, it looks like bashful flowers sticking out thier tongues at the rest of the world. The pedals cover the eyes playing 'hide and seek', or maybe 'Marco Polo', lol. Your call on that.

Mountain Laurel

Mountain Laurel does grow larger when it gets a bit further south than in the Nothern states, so that it is nearly treelike in height and weight near the mountainous areas of North Carolina, but further north it remains smaller and shrublike, topping out at about 8 or 9 feet.
Many names have been given to Mountain Laurel by the settlers and native Americans, among them, ivybush, calico bush, spoonwood, sheeps laurel, lambkill (because it is poisonous to the animals as well) and Clamoun.

As fishermen try thier best to snag a big fish for dinner, birds are flying looking for cast offs or bait fish to tempt thier bills as the sun goes slowly down.
This photograph was taken from the access road off South Padre Island Drive (SPID) between Corpus Christi and Flour Bluff, TX.
I'm sure that these fishermen are having a good time, and I hope they caught thier limit on fish.

Pink Flower

Yes, yes. I am flower stupid. As far as I know this is a pink flower, lol. That is the best I can do for now. I was using the macro lens attached to my camera.
I then used Picassa to crop some and bring out the color a bit more. And the final touch was using Photofiltre to remove any small imperfections I decided to remove.
Photo editing software does come in handy.

Another night time photograph of Bob Hall Pier in Corpus Christi, TX. I'm looking and shooting south on these photographs as the tide is slowly retreating into the sea. Now times like this are very relaxing and needless to say, visit Corpus Christi yourself. Enjoy the drivable beaches (yes you can drive on the beach there).

Bob Hall Pier at Night

Night time photography can be rather tricky. A sturdy tripod is a must have item, along with using the timer on the camera or an external shutter release. There are various settings on the camera that should also be adjusted such as ISO that can help.

This is a night shot of Bob Hall Pier in Corpus Christi, TX. I like the street lights and clouds in the photograph along with the lone walker strolling on the beach. It was taken in an of 2008, and as you can imagine, the weather was still very mild. I was probably wearing a short sleeve shirt to be honest.

Dragonfly 2

Dragonflies are very ancient insects, they already flew around when the dinosaurs ruled this world. The dinosaurs disappeared, but the dragonflies remained. Today we have about 5000 species of dragonflies all over the world.

Dragonfly

The adult dragonfly will hunt and often eat on the wing. It will also look for a mate. Dragonflies mate in flight, and are often seen flying in tandem. When the dragonflies have successfully mated, the female will look for a suitable pond where she will lay her eggs and the cycle begins again. Adult dragonflies can live up to 2 months.

I found that info on dragonfly site, a lot of interesting information about Dragonflies such as some nymph (while living in the water growing) can stay that way for four years.

This is another photograph from the trail between Strawberry Rd in Summerfield, NC to Bur-Mil Park. I took this shot on the same day as the previous picture. I've seen folks riding bikes, Moms pushing the young ones in strollers. I very nice place to be when it is not as hot as it is right now.

Vines Gone Wild

In Guilford County, NC, there are a lot of walking and biking trails to enjoy. The trail I was on this day mid Dec of last year goes from Strawberry Rd in Summerfield to Bur-Mil Park. I didn't walk that far on this day. But I did take a side trail to get this shot of a vine covered tree. It was mid Dec, so of course all the leaves are long gone.
A very peaceful way to get excerise and enjoy nature with all the fresh air.

Aaron, great past boss from work invited me to his and Trishs house on a river near Corpus Christi while I was there to train folks. They cooked some great steaks and I had the best time visiting folks in a long time. I could go on and on about thier house, but maybe later.

Description: I like flying. There is something about being way up in the air, looking around, and getting from point 'A' to point 'B' quick. Of course that was before all we have to go through now, before we even get on the plane. Still, it's worth all the hassle.
I haven't the foggest idea what state I was flying over, but I was heading back to Corpus Christi. I'm also guessing about the 3000 feet, but that's probably a good guess.

Description: Storms often travel thru NC during the summertime, rarely stay very long. Just a fast storm, then moves on.
Last month I used a feature on my camera that allows me to take 3.5 frames per second. That comes in handy for fast action shots such as this, to be able to get just the right effect I want to share.
It came out real good. I've been told it looks like a 'crown'.

Upward Bound

Description: Bur-Mil Park is a few miles up the road from me. It's on Hwy 220 between Summerfield and Greensboro, NC. Bur-Mil is named so because at one time is was owned and operated by Burlington Mills for thier employees use only. A nice recreation area and perk for the workers.
Now it's run by the Park Service. It's on the water shed for Greensboro and there are many walking and bike paths for everybody to use, along with a nice pool. I often see folks walking thier dogs, fishing, and just enjoying the nature of this very nice place. Visit yourself if you can and let me know your thoughts!

This very old brick building was many years ago a Hardware Store from what I've been told and located at the 'Crossroads' of the main 2 roads in Downtown Summerfield. I was on my way home from a brothers house last Dec 10, and my camera is always with me, and just the 'old time country spirit' really stands out. The owners decorate the store front for every changing holiday that comes are. That's dedication for a very good cause.

Low Tide

Description: There is a bridge of sorts that goes from Flour Bluff to the outskirts of Corpus Christi. If you look close, there's a spot to pull over and you can get good pictures if the tide is right. All in timing and what you are looking forward to shoot. That day, I wanted 'low tide' and I caught it about right. Normally the water is almost up to the fence. Shallow water, but still water. In photography, planning helps, but being lucky is more often the case।

Description: I like to drive the side roads while in Corpus Christi and Flour Bluff Texas. Ya never know what you may come across. Horses in pastures, Long Horn Steers (very common there) are about everywhere if you know where to look. Cacti of course, can't miss them, not too hard to see.
When I 1st moved in this house in Summerfield, guess what I found growing? Yeah, a big Cactus plant. It is huge, lol. The blooms are nice though.

Old Barn

Description: I've taken many shots of this old barn over several seasons, just to see it in different lights and times of day. Somewhere I have a photograph of deer leaping across this field. I'll need to find that one soon.
It's on Hwy 150 West, between Summerfield and Oakridge NC. Just happens to be on the way to a brothers house that I often share cold ones with. There is something about these old buildings that I find amazing. How much time and people did it take to create? What was it used for over so many years. Those things I'll never know.

Description: This photograph makes me think so much of the famous director Alfred Hitchcock. More so after I switched it to Black and White. It's a run down old house on Scalesville Rd in Summerfield, NC. It's on the way to one of my sisters house. I've passed by it many times and I finally stopped there last Jan to get off a few shots. Yeah, there's a 'No Trespassing' sign, but I wasn't there long, and didn't mess with anything. Didn't even leave any footsteps behind. I have this print on my wall now. It would make a cool mousepad (visit my e-store and buy one, lol). I'd be tempted to call it 'fine art' or quality photographic print. But hey, that's just me.

Description: While driving back from a friends house that lives way out from Corpus Christi, I saw the sun going down over a baren field. The way the clouds were formed really caught my eye. Talk about flat, lol. It is so flat down there it almost feels like you can see the curvature of the earth, you can see so far. The road is called 'WOW', which stands for Way Out Weber, not kidding, that is the real name of the road.

Summerfield Pond

Description: There is the Summerfield Community Park near my house I like to visit every once in a while. Neat place. Not long ago they built a real nice playground area for the kids, and I often see Moms out there with the young ones playing on the slides, swingset, and other things kids like. They have covered shelters with picnic tables, etc.
On the backside, there is a nice pond I've walked several times. I like pictures of reflections of things off the water, so this was a good shot for me to focus on. A very peaceful and relaxing place to spend time at after the hussle and bussle we often find ourself in.

Description: Last year I had the chance to visit 'Natural Bridge Caverns', located between San Antonio, TX and New Braunfels, TX. Now talk about a really cool place to visit! The whole walking tour I took lasted about an hour, going about 100 feet underground if I remember right. The temperature stays a constant 70 degree, with very, very high humidty. The trail I chose was the North Cavern, an easy, family friendy tour. For the more daring, try the Adventure Tour. There you will be rappelling, climbing, and crawling. I'll try that one if I get the chance to revisit.

Mountain View

Description: Like I've said before, I like Hanging Rock. The mountain views are really something to behold. There are places where you seem to see forever.
Pilot Mountain, from the TV show is a drive away. I have shots from there I'll post soon. Yeah, some times ya have to wait.

Pears After Rain

Description: I had about 1/2' of rain yesterday, but it was bad enough weather to knock out my power for almost 2 hours. Great.

No TV, Internet (my life blood, lol). I did have my cell phone to use if I needed it though.

So I spent some time walking around with the camera to revisit my many fruit trees I have growing. For the most part, I just let them grow until it's time to pick the bounty that grows. This will be the 1st time I'll be able to do so, as last year an early freeze knocked out most all. My Pecan trees, that was a real shame. No Pecan Pies or anything, darn. This year looks better.

I liked this picture for many reasons. The simpleness of it, the water drops clinging to the pears.

The grape vines, apple, and pear trees all look good.

Looking forward to a good harvest to share with all.

Black Berry

Description:Now when somebody hears the word 'Black Berry', we think, cool, the thing that we can get online with, check email, make calls.

I'm Old School, sorry.

I remember picking berries in NJ at the farm with my family, having them for breakfast with sugar and cream poured over them. AHH, those were the days. No worries but what trouble to get into next, and if I got caught, who I could say did what I did (just kidding).

I almost sent a different picture out, but I'll do that one soon. I need the right storyline first. The 'frame of mind' in looking at a pic depends on my nonsense. Sometimes, it takes a while to get it out.

Maybe my brain stutters also.
